Peaches and Beaches: Savannah to the Golden Isles

Step into the charm of the Old South with a journey through Savannah, GA where cobblestone streets, moss-draped oaks, and elegant squares tell stories of centuries past. Then relax along Georgia’s Golden Isles, St. Simons, and Jekyll Islands, where coastal beauty, historic landmarks, and Southern hospitality shine. We must include the quaint, laid-back, Victorian seaport town of Fernandina Beach, FL, brimming with waterfront charm and specialty shops. We are excited to take you on this Golden Isles Getaway! Day 1:


After picking up our fellow island mates, we begin our journey southwest to our first overnight town, Horn Lake, MS.

Day 2:


Meals: Breakfast

Traveling closer to our destination, we stop to stretch our legs as we take a deep dive into the heritage of racing at the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in Lincoln, AL nestled adjacent to the iconic Talladega Superspeedway. Motorsports legends from drivers, engineers, and team owners from around the globe are honored here. We overnight in Morrow, GA.

Day 3:


Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Photo Courtesy of Savannah Riverboat Cruises We arrive on Tybee Island, GA just in time for lunch on your own and free time to explore the local shops and Tybee Pier. We visit the Tybee Island Light Station & Museum before departing the island for our beautiful hotel in Savannah, GA for 2 nights, River Street Inn. This historic, beautifully preserved 1817 cotton warehouse hotel overlooks the Savannah River and is housed in the historic district. From our hotel, we are only steps away from our evening of dining and entertainment aboard the Savannah Riverboat.

Photo Courtesy of Visit Savannah We learn more about the beautiful, historic Savannah, GA on an Old Town Trolley Tour. At the end of the tour, you can explore Savannah on your own with your Hop on Hop off Trolley Tickets.  This evening is yours.

Day 5:

Photos Courtesy of Jekyll Island Boat Club It’s island time! Our day begins with a Jekyll Island Boat Tour where we hope to spot playful dolphins and other marine life! Lunch is on your own at the central hub of Jekyll Island, Beach Village, with some free time to visit the shops. We enjoy seeing and learning more of the island on the Trolley & Mosaic Jekyll Island Museum Tour. We are taking you to see the iconic Driftwood Beach before arriving at our island home for 3 nights, Holiday Inn Resort.

Day 6:


Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

St. Simon Island is our destination today where we begin with a Step on Guide for a tour of the island. We tour the preserved 1872 St. Simon Lighthouse Museum and the WWII Home Front Museum where inspiring stories of coastal Georgia’s civilian contributions to the war effort are brought to life through interactive exhibits. This evening, we enjoy dinner as a group!

Day 7:


Meals: Breakfast

Our seaward journey takes us to Fernandina Beach, FL today where we take a tour of Amelia and Cumberland Island aboard the Amelia River Cruise. Keep your eyes open for playful dolphins, sea turtles, sting rays, otters, and occasionally alligators! After our informational tour about the island’s rich past, we spend some free time for lunch and exploring the local shops before heading back to our Jekyll Island resort.

Day 8:


Meals: Breakfast

It’s time to say adios to our island home and begin our journey towards home. Tonight, we rest our heads in Birmingham, AL.

Day 9:


Meals: Breakfast

Today, we pass right through Jackson, TN where Casey Jones Village awaits our visit. This museum honoring the legendary railroad engineer gives us a nostalgic glimpse into 19th century American life through trains, antiques, and more. Spend some time exploring the museum, unique shops, and treat yourself to Miss Anne’s Ice Cream!

Day 10:


Meals: Breakfast

As our Peaches and Beaches tour comes to an end today as we make our way home, we can share our favorite places and stories of the memories we’ve made together in Savannah and the Golden Isles.
