In 2026, we mark 100 years since the birth of U.S. Route 66, America’s legendary Mother Road established on November 11, 1926, linking Chicago to Los Angeles. As we travel through Oklahoma, which boasts the most drivable miles of the historic highway, we explore nostalgic diners and museums that keep the spirit of Route 66 alive. This trip through the heart of the Mother Road promises both living history and unforgettable Americana. Come with us to Get Your Kicks on Route 66!

Day 1:


Meals: Lunch

We waste no time immersing ourselves in Route 66 history and heritage with lunch at Tally’s Good Food Restaurant in Tulsa, OK! Our afternoon adventure is filled with classic Route 66 roadside attractions from Tulsa’s towering Golden Driller to Buck Atom’s Cosmic Curious, a giant space cowboy statue, with each stop capturing the playful spirit and nostalgic charm of America's Mother Road. Day 2:


Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Our Route 66 journey through Oklahoma takes us to the Route 66 Historical Village in Tulsa, OK an open-air museum featuring a 1920s gas station, vintage railcars, and the tallest oil derrick in North America. In Stroud, OK we stop at the Rock Café, an icon of 1939 Route 66 known for its retro charm and classic diner fare. We explore local history at the Museum of Pioneer History and the quirky Lincoln County Lincolnuseum, then visit the restored Arcadia Round Barn, a unique 1898 landmark. Before ending our day at our hotel in Edmond, OK we stop at Pops 66, famous for its giant soda bottle and vast selection of colorful sodas.

Day 3:


Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

In Edmond, OK we explore the fascinating exhibits at the Edmond History Museum before enjoying lunch on your own at the lively Edmond Railyard, a local food hall with a variety of tasty options. This afternoon, we dive into the state’s heritage at the impressive Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City, OK followed by a visit to the renowned National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. After our tour, we celebrate with a Party on the Prairie at the museum, a festive evening featuring a buffet-style dinner and live musical entertainment. We hang our hats in our hotel in Oklahoma City, OK for 2 nights.

Day 4:


Meals: Breakfast

Today, a knowledgeable Step-on Guide joins us for a city tour with a special focus on Oklahoma City’s Route 66 highlights and a visit to the impressive State Capitol, where we explore its history and striking architecture. We enjoy lunch on our own before visiting the powerful and beautifully curated First Americans Museum, where the stories, traditions, and cultures of Oklahoma’s 39 tribal nations come to life through immersive exhibits and art.

Day 5:


Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Lunch is at the iconic Johnnie’s Grill in El Reno, OK a beloved Route 66 stop known for its famous onion burgers and retro charm. We continue to Weatherford, OK, to explore the fascinating Heartland of America Museum, filled with mid-20th-century artifacts and nostalgic Americana. Then it’s on to the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum, Clinton, OK where the story of the Mother Road comes to life through engaging exhibits and classic memorabilia. We end our day in Elk City, OK, ready for more Route 66 adventures ahead.

Day 6:

Photo Courtesy of Route 66 Museum Complex, Elk City Today’s adventures include the National Route66 & Transportation Museum in Elk City, OK, part of the Elk City Museum Complex, where you journey through all eight Route 66 states, tour vintage railcars and exhibits, and step into reconstructed early 20th-century western town life. Then we head to Claremore, OK to explore the Will Rogers Memorial Museum, housed in a beautiful limestone facility set on a hill overlooking town. The museum features twelve galleries, personal memorabilia, a theater, and a peaceful sunken garden around Rogers’ tomb, offering a heartfelt tribute to Oklahoma’s beloved entertainer. We stop in Claremore, OK for the night.

Day 7:

We have a special lunch planned for you at the beautiful Coleman Theater in Miami, OK. After a brief presentation about the theater and tour through the auditorium, lunch is served on the stage! As our journey comes to an end, we leave with full hearts, unforgettable memories, and a deeper appreciation for the history, culture, and charm we’ve discovered along the way.
