This five-day adventure takes you from the vibrant streets of Kansas City, MO, to the nostalgic landscapes of Hannibal, MO, uncovering the stories of legendary figures like Harry S. Truman, Mark Twain and Walt Disney. Along the way, you'll explore artistic treasures, visit historic homes, and marvel at iconic Clydesdales. Each day promises a new discovery filled with enriching experiences that bring the past to life and inspire your sense of wonder. Join us as we travel through the heart of America, where every stop offers a unique story and a chance to create lasting memories.

Day 1:


We make our way to Kansas City, MO, where the tour’s highlights begin. The first stop is the Thomas Hart Benton Home & Studio, a historic site that provides an intimate look into the life and work of one of America’s most notable regionalist painters. The 45-minute guided tour offers a unique glimpse into Benton’s artistic process, with his studio preserved just as he left it. Next, immerse yourself in the compelling story of African American baseball at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. This museum tells the inspiring tale of the Negro Leagues and their impact on the sport through engaging exhibits and memorabilia. After a day rich in culture and history, you’ll relax at our hotel in Independence, MO.

Day 2:


Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Today, we’re starting at the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library & Museum, where you will explore the life and legacy of America’s 33rd president. Exhibits filled with personal artifacts and detailed accounts offer insight into Truman’s leadership during pivotal moments in history. Afterward, journey to St. Joseph, MO, to visit the Walter Cronkite Memorial at Missouri Western State University. This tour pays tribute to the iconic journalist through interactive displays and videos, showcasing his profound impact on American journalism. Later, we'll visit the Boyhood Home of J.C. Penney in Hamilton, MO. Here, you’ll learn about the humble beginnings of this retail giant. Just after visiting his home, we'll go to the Missouri Star Quilt Shops and browse a delightful array of quilting supplies. “Penney’s Quilt Shop” is where the original J.C. Penney’s Store was located. We will round off the day with a Making Memories Tours provided meal and retire at our hotel in Chillicothe, MO.

Day 3:

Our day begins with a scenic drive through downtown Chillicothe, MO. Here, vibrant murals will give us glimpses into the town’s rich history. Next, we’ll visit the Gen. John J. Pershing Boyhood Home State Historic Site in Laclede, MO, where you’ll delve into the early life of America’s highest-ranking military officer. The tour then heads to the Walt Disney Hometown Museum in Marceline, MO, which provides an intimate look at the early influences on Walt Disney’s imagination. Finally, we'll enjoy a lovely dinner cruise aboard the Mark Twain Riverboat on the Mississippi River, Hannibal, MO. Enjoying the live music and historical commentary will make for a relaxing and memorable conclusion to your day before retiring in our hotel for the night in Hannibal, MO.

Day 4:

Nostalgia and Surprises! The morning begins with a visit to the Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum in Hannibal, MO, offering a glimpse into the childhood of America’s beloved author. Next, experience the grandeur of the Budweiser Clydesdales at Warm Springs Ranch in Boonville, MO. You’ll enjoy an up-close look at these majestic horses and learn about their history and care. Afterward, explore the Midway Antique Mall in Columbia, MO, where you can find treasures from decades past. The day concludes with a surprise event, promising a delightful and entertaining evening. After a full day of fun, we will settle for the night in Columbia, MO.

Day 5:

Time to head for home! We'll spend our remaining time together reminiscing about our adventures while enjoying a leisurely drive back home. With each stop, say goodbye to new friends as you cherish the stories and memories that have made this journey through Missouri a golden experience!
