Imagine escaping to a far-away destination, ocean kissed, wind swept as you immerse yourself in an experience guaranteed to make lifelong memories. This oceanfront odyssey takes us through the Appalachian Mountains and into the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where four nights in a beach-front hotel are awaiting our arrival! Three days of exploring and island hopping at the Outer Banks will be an experience you will never forget with an additional bonus as we explore Myrtle Beach, South Carolina next!

Day 1:

As our journey begins today, take some time to get to meet your fellow ocean bound voyagers and get ready to make some memories together. Covering lots of ground today, we will arrive in Kuttawa, KY, for the night.

Day 2:

Meals: Breakfast

The adventure continues today as our travels take us through the Volunteer State, Tennessee, to North Carolina.  We will overnight in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Marion, NC.

Day 3:

Meals: Breakfast

Who is ready to sink those travel weary toes in the sand? We will be arriving at our destination late this afternoon. Our beautiful, beach-front hotel in Nags Head, NC, will be our home for 4 nights!

Day 4:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Today our exploration truly begins as we start our day with a short drive down the coastline of the Outer Banks making stops along the way. Our first stop will be at the tallest lighthouse in America, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse (you can climb to the top if you want – or not). Next stop is at the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum, where you will learn some of the history of the ships that never made it to port. After a quick break for lunch, you can work off those calories as we arrive at Bodie Island Lighthouse; another opportunity to climb to the top presents itself if you so wish.  Our maritime journey continues as our next destination is a Dolphin Watch Tour.  After a busy day, we’ll make our way back to our hotel for the night.

Day 5:

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

This morning, we depart for a little more exploring and drive up the Outer Banks to Kill Devil Hills, NC, to visit the Wright Brothers National Memorial and Visitor Center.  Wind, sand and a dream of flight brought Wilbur and Orville Wright to Kitty Hawk, NC, where - after four years of scientific experimentation - they achieved the first successful airplane flight on December 17, 1903, forever changing the course of history.  After we enjoy lunch on our own in Corolla, NC, we continue to the Wild Horses tour!  We have a real treat in store for everyone as we hop off our bus and hop into a 4-wheel drive truck for an off-road adventure in search of these wild, beautiful Spanish Mustangs!  Along the way our experienced guide will share some of the history of these majestic creatures. Immediately following our search for wild horses, we will visit the Currituck Lighthouse. This red brick lighthouse provides the opportunity, optional, to climb to the top of the lighthouse and take in the stunning panoramic view of the Currituck Sound, the Outer Banks, and the Atlantic Ocean. We finish our day famished and ready for a delicious dinner planned for everyone as we fill our bellies with some succulent seafood at Captain George’s Seafood Restaurant.

Day 6:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

The adventure continues as our next day is spent on Roanoke Island.  Today, first we will check out Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, the historic site of the Roanoke Colony, the first English settlement in the New World. Here we learn about the history and the mystery of Roanoke Island. Next on our agenda is The Elizabethan Gardens, with an included lunch awaiting us.  Afterwards, before we bid ado to the Outer Banks, we would be remiss to not give you free time at the beach. Therefore, today you will have most of the afternoon and evening for free time at our oceanfront hotel.

Day 7:

Meals: Breakfast

Photo Courtesy of Myrtle Beach Department of Tourism Today we travel south along the Atlantic Coast for a stop in Wilmington, NC, and then to Myrtle Beach, SC, for another 2 nights in an ocean-front hotel. Before retiring for the night, we will be entertained at the Alabama Theatre in Myrtle Beach, SC!

Day 8:

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

An eco-tour at Murrells Inlet awaits us this morning where we will enjoy the birds, tranquil waters and sea life. After our tour, we will return to our hotel for lunch on our own and to have time on the beach and/or rest before ending our Atlantic Coast visit with some great seafood at The Original Benjamin’s Calabash Seafood restaurant!

Day 9:

Meals: Breakfast

Today we begin the journey west as we make our way home.  However, the fun is not over yet! We make our way across the lovely state of South Carolina and into Georgia where we have a Surprise before we retire for the night at our hotel in Lithia Springs, GA!

Day 10:

Meals: Breakfast

We journey across parts of 5 states today – Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arkansas as we make our way toward home.  We are crossing lots of miles, but we can’t drive through Tupelo, MS, without a stop at Elvis Presley’s Birthplace. For our last night, we will stop in Marion, AR.

Day 11:

Meals: Breakfast

The memory making is winding down as we arrive home and say goodbye to all the new friends we’ve made on this incredible journey together.  We are so glad you decided to travel with us! We hope to see you again so we can make more memories together.
