At Making Memories Tours, we love to hear where our customers want to travel and what they have on their Bucket List. High on that list of requests is for an Alaskan Cruise. Therefore, we’ve put together an incredible adventure that takes us across the waves to the Last Frontier! This adventure begins with a 6-day land tour to see what the great state of Alaska has to offer then we will embark on a 7-day cruise that will take us from Whittier, Alaska, through the inside passage to Vancouver, BC.

Day 1:

As we gather everyone up today, we eagerly await our Northern Adventure.

Day 2:

Our first two days are straightforward. We’ll board our flight, and it will take us to Fairbanks, AK.

Day 3:

Meals: Breakfast

Today, we’ll be visiting the Santa Claus House, which has been bringing a cheery Christmas grin to millions of visitors over the years. Next, it’s off to the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum, where we will see an amazing collection of classic cars, vintage clothing, Alaska’s unique transportation history and knowledgeable docents that bring it all together. We are excited to provide our group with a ride on the Discovery Riverboat! This three-hour tour will take you into the heart of Alaska and introduce you to a family who has made the rivers of Alaska their way of life for five generations. After a full day in Fairbanks, AK, it is here we will rest tonight in our hotel.

Day 4:

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

In Fairbanks, we will start our day with a tour of Gold Dredge 8, where we will have a chance to roll up our sleeves and dredge up some gold of our own! We will see a close-up view of the Trans Alaska Pipeline and take a seat on a replica of the Tanana Valley Railroad while listening to tales of the gold rush from days gone by and more! After lunch, we will begin to make our way to Denali, AK, where we will enjoy some hearty Alaskan cuisine and local entertainment at the Alaska Cabin Nite Dinner Show. We will end our adventurous day here in Denali.

Day 5:

Meals: Breakfast

During day five, we’ll enjoy a group tour of Denali National Park. Prepare to travel through miles of tranquil tundra and gaze at a plethora of wildlife, flowers and mountains. Or you may choose to explore this beautiful, vast frontier on your own by setting up an area excursion for yourself. After a full day of adventure, we will rest our heads in Denali, AK, this evening.

Day 6:

Meals: Breakfast

This morning, our journey continues as we travel in style on the Alaskan Railroad. Once onboard, we’ll enjoy the dome viewing for an unforgettable view of the Last Frontier. The train ride between Denali and Talkeetna has some of the most breathtaking views in all of Alaska. Tonight and tomorrow night, we will stay in beautiful Anchorage, AK!

Day 7:

Meals: Breakfast

We will spend a full day in Anchorage where you will have free time to explore. Our day will be so much fun, evening will seem to come too quickly. We will have sweet dreams tonight of all that is still awaiting us the next several days on our Alaskan cruise!

Day 8:

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

The excitement continues as we board our motorcoach and travel to the Alaskan Wildlife Conservation Center! Here, we can get up close to some of Alaska’s most iconic animals, such as moose, musk ox, bears, wolves and more. Then, we’ll end the day by boarding our Norwegian Cruise Ship. Ship-Ship Hooray!!

Day 9:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Our long-awaited morning has arrived! Today, we’ll see the Hubbard Glacier, which is the largest tidewater glacier in North America. Its awe-inspiring, turquoise-colored face towers nearly 400 feet tall — 250 feet of which are underwater — and its icebergs are often three or four stories high. At nearly six miles wide where the ice meets the ocean and 76 miles long, viewing this mammoth glacial mass is an experience not soon forgotten. As you cruise near the glacier, keep an eye out for the region’s rich variety of wildlife from bald eagles to harbor seals, orcas and humpback whales.

Day 10:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

This morning, we dock at Icy Strait Point, an enchanting cruise port that promises an unforgettable experience for all visitors. This picturesque destination offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and thrilling adventures, making it a must-visit.

Day 11:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The next stop on our cruise is Juneau. Juneau has been called “Alaska's peak experience,” certainly due in part to its unparalleled glacier viewing from such places as Tracy Arm Fjord, the Juneau Icefields, Glacier Bay National Park, and Mendenhall Glacier.

Day 12:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

As our cruise continues, we stop at the picturesque and quaint little town of Skagway. In a single year, from 1896 to 1897, this remote town along the Inside Passage grew from a few tents to a city of 20,000 gold seekers. Today, travelers come in search of other riches. They long to experience yesteryear along Skagway's charming boardwalk lined with buildings that replicate those Gold Rush days.

Day 13:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Today our ship arrives in Ketchikan. Thanks to its abundant rainfall, Ketchikan is surrounded by some of the world's most lush wilderness. Its Tlingit Indian name, Kach Khanna, means “spread wings of the eagle.” Chances are you'll see one of these magnificent birds perched atop a Sitka tree. There will be some optional excursions you can choose from here. Just be sure to be back on the ship in time. The boat doesn’t wait on anyone.

Day 14:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Our final full day at sea takes us through the Inside Passage. You will definitely want to keep your camera handy and your eyes open because the Inside Passage is filled with stunning views and wildlife.

Day 15:

Meals: Breakfast

With a number of pleasant memories behind us, we’ll board our flight home.

Day 16:

Meals: Breakfast

This has certainly been an unforgettable adventure, and we are so glad you decided to come make memories with us.
