Today introduces you to a mix of science and civil rights history. We begin with a visit to the out-of-this-world US Space and Rocket Center! After lunch, we’ll explore the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, and then we will tour the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church. This church was bombed in 1963, and it was this bombing that prompted Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to send a telegram to Governor George Wallace, a well-known segregationist. It was a vital location during the civil rights era. Following the tour of the church, we’ll spend some time in Kelly Ingram Park. Our day ends as we return to our hotel in Birmingham, AL.
