Tour Description

Grizzlies, wolves, and bison! Geysers, valleys, and hot springs! In the middle of it all, you will find geological wonders more spectacular than words can describe. This is the beauty of the West! This is the adventure of a lifetime. A train ride, chuckwagon dinner shows, Crazy Horse, and a float trip down the Snake River are just some of the many exciting escapades that are certain to leave you with life-long memories - you do not want to miss a single moment!

Day 1:

Like the pioneers before us, we prepare to head out west. However, unlike the pioneers our wagon has working air conditioning. Take advantage of this travel day to get to know your fellow travelers. We arrive in Council Bluffs, IA, for our overnight. Rushmore Map

Day 2:

Meals: Breakfast

We will spend today traveling west as we make our way across the wide-open state of South Dakota. This evening we arrive in Rapid City where we will be staying for the next 3 nights. Get a good night’s sleep because tomorrow the memory-making begins in earnest.

Day 3:

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Be sure to bring your camera today because we have an exciting and full day of sightseeing. Of course, any sightseeing in this region requires a trip to see Mount Rushmore. After snapping pictures and taking in the accomplishment and scope of Mount Rushmore, we move on to the 1880s Black Hills Train. This authentic 1800s scenic train ride transports us through the Black Hills, giving us the chance to experience this countryside much like it was seen over 100 years ago. Our train ride ends in Hill City, SD, where our coach picks us up and takes us to the grandeur of Crazy Horse Memorial, the world’s largest sculptural undertaking, literally a mountain. This is a massive memorial honoring all Native North Americans. Since we are here, we have arranged for us to experience something truly special, we will travel to the top of the monument and have a chance to walk out on the arm. Descending the mountain, an included dinner is awaiting us.

Day 4:

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

The morning begins with a scenic drive through Spearfish Canyon. This 19-mile gorge is flanked by rock walls of pink, gray, and tan limestone and sporadically dotted with cascading waterfalls. This is not a non-stop drive. We will take our time, stopping along the way so you can take pictures of this magnificent terrain. The canyon ends and leads us to Deadwood where we will have a guided tour of the area before enjoying another night of food and fun at the Fort Hayes Chuckwagon Dinner Show.

Day 5:

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

We leave our hotel this morning and will head into WY, where we have something exciting planned – a visit to Devils Tower. Yellowstone was our nation’s first national park, and Devil’s Tower was our nation’s first national monument. A ranger will guide our tour of this natural wonder. Leaving here we continue onward and find ourselves in Cody, WY, at the Cody Cattle Company for a chuckwagon dinner and show. We will be staying here in Cody for the next 2 nights.

Day 6:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Today we arrive in Yellowstone National Park. After entering the park, we will pick up our step-on-guide for the day in America’s first and largest national park. Upon arriving, we take a scenic drive to view the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River and see plunging waterfalls twice as high as Niagara. For lunch today we will bring our own lunches and have a picnic here in Yellowstone. Be on the lookout for large free-roaming herds of bison! The beauty of Yellowstone is something that transcends words. There is not enough room here to try to describe the wonders waiting for us in Yellowstone. Suffice it to say, we will spend the entire day here and will return to Cody for our overnight.

Day 7:

Meals: Breakfast

No trip to Yellowstone would be complete without a chance to take in Old Faithful. Watch in amazement as this predictable geyser erupts and sends a fountain of steam more than 60 feet into the air! It is sure to be a sight you will never forget. We have a couple more stops to make in the park today before heading south to Jackson Hole. The drive from Yellowstone to Jackson Hole is truly something to behold with the Grand Tetons as a backdrop. We will stop at Cotter Bay Village and Jenny Lake to take in the sights and unforgettable scenery. Our hotel for the next 2 nights is here in Jackson Hole.

Day 8:

Meals: Breakfast

Wasting no time, we jump right into the excitement. This morning, buses will come and take us on an unforgettable float excursion on the Snake River. You will view the breathtaking scenery of the Grand Tetons and witness wildlife activity. After our time riding the “Snake”, we return to Jackson Hole where you will have the afternoon free to explore the town or maybe rest and relax.

Day 9:

Meals: Breakfast

Today, as we make our way south, we say goodbye to the vast land of Wyoming and make our way into the Beehive State “Utah”. Here, we tour the State Capitol building and learn some of the history of Utah and stand in awe of the beautiful and massive white pillars that decorate the Capitol. After this, we head to our final hotel together in Salt Lake City, UT

Day 10:

Meals: Breakfast

This morning we head to the airport and board our plane taking us back to the Midwest. We hope you will join us again sometime for another memory-making adventure.
