Bring your cameras on this excursion deep into North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee. Get ready for loads of smiles as this trip takes us to see the Appalachian foothills, the Smoky Mountains, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and Mayberry in all their rugged, mountainous, golden autumn glory. While the beautiful fall colors are more than enough reason to take on this journey, this country has much more to share with us. This incredible tour will take us from train rides to Andy Griffith. So, join us on this expedition to see dazzling mountain landscapes of autumn colors steeped in rich history.

Day 1:

Our journey begins as we travel across Missouri and into Tennessee. Sit back and let the anticipation build as our travel takes us closer to the mountains. Leave your cares and troubles behind you. Let us take care of YOU; all YOU have to take care of is making great memories. Our overnight will be in Clarksville, TN  

Day 2:

Our first stop today takes us to another breathtaking location, Rock City, atop Lookout Mountain. Rock City is a true marvel of nature, featuring massive and ancient rock formations, spectacular gardens, and breathtaking panoramic views. There is only one way to get up there: The Incline Railway. We will be overnighting tonight outside Chattanooga, TN.

This morning we have a quirky little stop planned for everyone; we will be stopping at the one and only Sasquatch Museum, the world’s largest Bigfoot Museum with the greatest permanent display of Bigfoot footprint castings. Next, we board the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway for a charming roundtrip through North Georgia’s picturesque Appalachian foothills. This is an experience you don’t want to miss! After this remarkable train ride, we have a restful night here in Blue Ridge, GA.

There is more excitement today as we find ourselves at the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the Great Smoky Mountains while traveling along the Tennessee and Nantahala Rivers. The historic Fontana Trestle takes you across Fontana Lake and into the beautiful Nantahala Gorge. Upon returning from this epic train ride, we head to our hotel in Cherokee, NC

As we continue our journey, we find ourselves in Charlotte, NC, for a stop at the Billy Graham Library. In the 40,000 square feet of the Billy Graham Library, visitors will learn how God used a humble farmer’s son, and leave changed by the message Billy faithfully preached during nearly eight decades of ministry. Designed to reflect Billy Graham’s journey from a farm boy to an international ambassador of God’s love, the barn-shaped building is situated on 20 landscaped acres, only miles from where Billy Graham grew up. We will leave here this afternoon and head north to Mt. Airy, where we will spend the night.

Fans of the Andy Griffith Show can step back in time this morning when we visit Mount Airy. Actor Andy Griffith grew up here, and it’s no coincidence that a stroll down Main Street in the “Friendly City” reminds people of the town of Mayberry from the popular ’60s hit TV series. Fans of the show can visit Floyd’s Barber Shop, the Old Mayberry Jail, Snappy Lunch, and even Andy’s childhood home. You’ll encounter the generous spirit of The Andy Griffith Show wherever you go. Leaving Mayberry behind, we find ourselves in the Blue Ridge Mountains, in Wytheville, VA.

This morning we start for home, so take time to reminisce before we arrive at our farewell dinner. Our last night will be in Kuttawa, KY.
