Day 1:

Meals: Lunch

Today we start our journey together. As we begin our time together, today is a good day to go ahead and get to know your fellow travelers since you will be making memories together for the next twelve days. Today will end with our arriving in Effingham, IL, for our overnight   Finger Lakes Map

Day 2:

Meals: Breakfast

Our stop today will be in Columbus, OH, where we will have a chance to learn about and explore the Ohio State Capitol Building, a magnificent monument to the people and the period during which Ohio’s democracy was founded and formed. Leaving here we make the short drive to Akron, OH, where we will be staying the night

Day 3:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We leave Ohio behind and cross into Pennsylvania today and arrive at Kinzua Bridge State Park. This Viaduct, once the longest and tallest railroad structure at 2,053 feet long and 301 feet high, was partially destroyed by a tornado in 2003. Reinvented as a pedestrian walkway during 2011, visitors can stroll 600 feet out on the remaining support towers, peer miles out into the Kinzua Gorge, and gaze down through the partial glass platform at the end of the walkway. After the incredible view here from the bridge we head north into New York. More specifically we head to Jamestown, the hometown of the one and only Lucille Ball. Speaking of Lucy tonight we arrive at the Tropicana Room, for an included dinner and a showing of an episode of the “I Love Lucy” Show

Day 4:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

This morning we head to the Luci Desi Museum & Desilu Studios. Here we plunge into the world of “I Love Lucy” and the life and history of Lucille Ball. We have one more stop to make before heading to the Finger Lakes. We will be stopping at the Corning Museum of Glass. This world class museum is dedicated to exploring a single material: glass. the Museum’s campus is home to the world’s most comprehensive collection of glass, the world’s foremost library on glass, and one of the top glass working schools in the world. Tonight we finally arrive to the shore of Lake Geneva, and as it happens, our hotel for the next two nights is right here on the shores of the Lake.

Day 5:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

This morning will be filled with picture stops and time in Letchworth State Park. Letchworth State Park, renowned as the “Grand Canyon of the East,” has some of the most magnificent scenery in the eastern U.S. The Genesee River roars through the gorge over three major waterfalls between cliffs--as high as 600 feet in some places--surrounded by lush forests. Then we have a lunch appointment on the Canandaigua Lady, a 19th century steamboat replica and an authentic double-decker paddle wheeler operating on Canandaigua Lake. We will enjoy a scenic lunch cruise here. The rest of the day will consist of free time to shop and eat here in the Finger Lakes.

Day 6:

Meals: Breakfast

For our travels today, Making Memories has found a fun, little, hidden gem in the town of Auburn, NY, - the “It’s a Wonderful Life Museum.” This movie is considered by many to be the greatest work of cinema, and it was filmed here in Auburn, NY. We will have some time to check out the museum as well and eat here in downtown Auburn. You will also have a chance to walk out to the famous bridge from the movie. We will be overnighting tonight in Watertown, NY.

Day 7:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Today we will cross into the Adirondack Mountains, and our first stop will be at The Wild Center. Located in Tupper Lake, NY, we have a chance to walk up a trail of bridges to the treetops of the Adirondack forest, for a one-of-a-kind view. Next we arrive at High Falls Gorge, with walking trails and glass floor walkways. Our final stop for the day will be at Cloudsplitter Gondola. A stunning gondola ride takes us up Whiteface Mountain for some breathtaking mountain views. We will be overnight tonight in the one and only Lake Placid.

Day 8:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

This morning we will be boarding a ferry and crossing over Lake Champlain into Vermont. Upon arriving in Burlington, VT, we will hop on another boat, the Spirit of Ethan Allen. Here we enjoy another delicious and scenic lunch cruise; this time on Lake Champlain. After this experience, we head back to New York where we will be staying in yet another lakeside town. This time Lake George, NY

Day 9:

Meals: Breakfast

Our travels today bring us to the Adirondack Experience Museum. In the heart of the Adirondacks overlooking Blue Mountain Lake, we will step into the rich history of this region. Next up on the agenda is an Erie Canal Cruise. Enjoy the scenery of the Mohawk Valley as you cruise the calm waters of the Erie Canal, learning about the history of the area and locks. Our time today ends in Cooperstown, NY, where we will be staying the night.

Day 10:

Meals: Breakfast

Our activity today is a little off theme, but since we are here in Cooperstown, it would be an absolute crime to not head on over to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. While here you have about half a day to honor the All-Time Greats who are enshrined in the Hall of Fame. The Museum preserves history, honors excellence and connects generations. Beyond the iconic Hall of Fame Plaque Gallery are exhibits that tell the story of baseball’s impact on our lives, and our country. Leaving here we return to Jamestown, NY, where we will be staying before starting our journey home

Day 11:

Meals: Breakfast

We will spend the day coming home, so now is a good time to look back at the sights and memories we’ve experience together. After a full day of driving, we arrive in Indianapolis, IN, where we will be staying our final night

Day 12:

We want to thank everybody for coming with us on this adventure. We know you’ve made some memories on this journey, and we hope you will join us again sometime.
