Tour Description

Nothing says Spring like bountiful flowers, and one of the most beautiful flowers is the cherry blossom. These beautiful buds bloom in Spring on gorgeous trees with branches that wind and bend until they feel like a world unto themselves. The cherry blossom tree is Japan’s national tree, but its renown is worldwide. This blossom is so famous that our nation’s capital has an entire parade dedicated just to it. This festival is a time of year when the white marble of Washington’s many monuments is decorated in pink, various festivities abound in celebration, and the parade serves as the climax to the whole affair. It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience not soon to be forgotten. A wonderful place for making memories.

Day 1:

Meals: Lunch

Your journey takes you toward the nation’s capital and the wonderful sights that await. You will be steadily making your way through Missouri until you reach today’s destination in Terre Haute, Indiana. There you will eat, rest, and dream of cherry blossoms dusting the ground like snow. DC Map

Day 2:

Meals: Breakfast

Today the adventure continues, but with a little surprise in store for everyone.  So, you will just have to wait and see what kind of experience we have in store for everyone.  After the mystery stop, onwards towards the Capital.  Our overnight will be in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.

Day 3:

Next stop:   Washington, D.C. to the infamous Ford’s Theater, the site where one of America’s most legendary presidents was slain. From the Ford’s Theater to the Peterson House, across the street, the tour and museum provide information and memorabilia from that fateful event. Leaving here we make our way to the National Harbor for a chance to explore and enjoy a meal.  After dinner, enjoy a ride on The Capitol Wheel, a 180-foot-high Ferris wheel that lets you drink in the scenic view of the National Harbor. From there you’ll check into your hotel and rest up for another exciting day.

Day 4:

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Today will be a day of visiting the numerous famous memorials of the heroes of the past with our local Step-on Guide. From Thomas Jefferson to Franklin Delano Roosevelt to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, you will learn about brave souls who have made this country what it is today. Enjoy lunch in Historic Georgetown where there will be plenty of free time to shop and sightsee. Next stop: Washington National Cathedral, where you will marvel at its tall towers, its majestic sweeping arches, and gaze at the swirling colors casting a rainbow-like hue over the entire cathedral as light comes through its beautiful, round stained-glass window.  Dinner tonight will be provided.  Then the night’s festivities will conclude with an illuminated night tour of D.C.’s monuments which will, of course, be framed by beautiful cherry blossoms. A great way to end the day!

Day 5:

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Today’s unforgettable journey begins with a stop at the White House Visitor Center where you will experience a touchscreen tour of the White House and have the privilege of viewing the historic home’s many artifacts.  Now for the big moment: the Cherry Blossom Parade. You will for sure get that “up close and personal” view of all the many amazing festivities! We are talking drummers dressed in pink, floating Japanese lanterns, Japanese dances, swirling dresses of every color, a multitude of floats, and marching bands galore - everything that makes a parade great! This is the sort of thing of which great memories are made.  After the parade, we’ll travel south of town to  George Washington’s Historic Mount Vernon Home and Gardens for an in-depth mansion tour. You will see a glimpse of this great man’s life and legacy. The evening will conclude with a nice relaxing dinner cruise on the Potomac River to further take in the views of the cherry blossoms.

Day 6:

This evening finds us overnighting near Lewisburg, WV.

Our final day together will be recalling the many memories we have gathered along the way. Just as the cherry blossoms will soon fade from their trees, so must our time together come to an end. Yet, we share this wonderful experience in our hearts and are grateful for the times we have had together. We are so very happy that you chose to make memories with us.
