There can be little doubt that the massive canyons, mesmerizing arches and stunningly painted landscapes of Utah make for some of the most beautiful national parks in America. One must stare in awe and reverence at the beauty of a place so immense, so peaceful, a place of unbelievable beauty and power. Such is our destination and you will make memories here with us that you will never, ever forget.
Day 1:
On our first day of this grand adventure, you have the day to get acquainted with fellow pilgrims, make some new friends, and prepare for an unforgettable experience. Today is a travel day so just sit back and relax as we make our way westward. Our overnight tonight is in Salina, Kansas.
Day 2:
Meals: Breakfast
We start our journey again but won’t get far before we stop for a guided tour of the Cathedral of the Plains (St. Fidelis Church). This Romanesque-style church contains German windows and works of art, Austrian hand-carved Stations of the Cross, and an Italian marble altar. This stunning structure was once the largest church west of the Mississippi River. We leave this lovely stop and continue onward across the Great Plains. Our overnight tonight is in Stapleton, Colorado.
Day 3:
Meals: Breakfast
Wake up this morning and enjoy your coffee before we head out today. This is our last travel day on our outbound journey. We are drawing ever closer to our destination and will be encountering some beautiful scenery today as we drive through some stunning mountain vistas. We overnight tonight and tomorrow night in beautiful Moab, Utah. Be sure to get rested up for the exciting day ahead.
Day 4:
Meals: Breakfast
As we start the day off, it doesn’t take long before adventure comes and sweeps us away down the river. Our steed for this voyage is a jet boat and on its back we’ll be able to see stunning majestic canyons as we make our way down the Colorado River. The fun boat ride also allows us to take you places never before possible. After we’re all tuckered out, we will return to our hotel, kick back, relax and enjoy some free time.
Day 5:
Meals: Breakfast
Our first stop today is Arches National Park, an absolute wonderland of colors, surreal panoramas and unbelievable formations. This fascinating park has more than 2000 natural arches. After we depart Arches, we’ll head over to our second stop Canyonlands National Park, a wilderness of desert beauty containing countless wonders each better than the last. The evening brings us to Monticello, Utah for our overnight.
Day 6:
Meals: Breakfast
Today we continue our journey to a place known throughout all America: Zion National Park. It has a famous mile-long tunnel known as the Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel. Most everybody knows of the splendor and jaw dropping beauty of this unbelievable place. But for those who don’t, let me just say that this is an absolute must see. Our overnight tonight takes us to Kanab, Utah.
Day 7:
Meals: Breakfast
Today the exploration moves forward as we make our way to Bryce Canyon National Park. This place is as interesting as it is strange. There is no place like Bryce Canyon. Hoodoos (odd-shaped pillars of rock left standing from the forces of erosion) can be found on every continent, but right here is the largest collection of hoodoos in the world. On a clear day, visibility from Bryce Canyon can exceed 100 miles. This is undoubtedly a place you will never forget. Our hotel tonight is in Provo, Utah.
Day 8:
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch
We leave our hotel today to tour some of the local sights before we hit the road. Our first stop is at a factory where something common and mundane in nature is made, however it is often overlooked. It has, without a doubt, changed the entire world. I’m speaking, of course, of soap and you’re going to get to make your own at the Soap Factory. For lunch today, you will have an opportunity to eat a meal with everything “homegrown” by local farmers. Afterwards we will stop at the Crandall Historical Printing Museum, one of the most unique printing museums in the world. We overnight tonight in the great Salt Lake City, Utah.
Day 9:
Meals: Breakfast
We will have a professional step-on guide give us a first class guided tour of Salt Lake City taking in all the sights of this historic city. Sitting on the banks of the largest lake west of the Mississippi, there are many fascinating places to see and things to learn. When our tour is over, we once more hit the open road as we overnight tonight in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Day 10:
Meals: Breakfast
Relax and enjoy the views as we start out on our expedition home. Today we will be traveling through the Great Divide Basin, a 100 + mile bowl near the Continental Divide where the water doesn’t flow to the east or the west. We will also slip into Cheyenne and take a quick peak at a thing or two. Our overnight tonight is in North Platte, Nebraska.
Day 11:
Meals: Breakfast
Today as we make our way across Nebraska, our first stop brings us to The Archway. We will experience the westward expansion of a nation through the eyes of those who lived it. The Archway presents 170 years of America’s westward movement through detailed displays and harrowing stories you’ll hear as you walk over one of America’s busiest interstate highways. We overnight tonight in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Day 12:
Meals: Breakfast
As we return home this afternoon, let’s spend it reflecting on the memories of the majestic beauty that we have had the privilege to see on this extraordinary tour.
