Georgia’s coast is kissed by countless beautiful barrier islands: Tybee Island, St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island, and Amelia Island. Here, pristine stretches of marshland, punctuated by small islands known as hammocks, define the breathtaking landscape and create the appearance of a continuous stretch of land reaching out to the barrier islands. Sandy beaches stretch on for miles. The local sunshine, cuisine, and much more are all beckoning, so what are you waiting for?

Day 1:

Our journey begins! We’ll leave the Ozarks and start for the Great South. Take the time to get to know one another as we travel across the country. Our first night will be spent in Horn Lake, MS. Map

Day 2:

Meals: Breakfast

We continue our adventure today, building friendships with fellow travelers that just might last a lifetime. This afternoon will bring us to the Road to Tara Museum. As the highest-grossing movie of all time, Gone With the Wind continues to draw interest from fans and students of film. At the end of the day, we arrive in Morrow, GA, where we spend the night and prepare for the exciting days ahead.

Day 3:

Meals: Breakfast

Today brings us to the first of several Islands off the coast of Georgia, Tybee Island. This small coastal community is consistently named one of the top-rated beaches in the U.S. You will have a chance to shop, explore and eat here on the island before we head over to the Tybee Island Light Station and Museum. We saved the best for last, as we will be experiencing Captain Dereck’s Dolphin Adventure this afternoon. Experience the thrill of encountering dolphins in their natural habitat while taking in breathtaking views of Tybee’s serene coastal waters. From historic lighthouses to majestic Fort Pulaski to dolphins playing next to the boat, this is definitely a memory maker! Oh, and we will end our day in our hotel in historic downtown Savannah, where we will be staying for two nights!

Day 4:

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

This morning, you’ll have some free time, allowing you to explore the town of Savannah with your Hop-on, Hop-off Trolley Passes. After that, we’re going to have a luxury dinner on a Savannah Riverboat Cruise. What a great way to end the day before returning to our hotel.

Day 5:

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Our day begins with a tram tour of Jekyll Island. It is a wide and diverse island with a colorful history and even a few unique attractions, such as an endangered sea turtle rehabilitation center. People from all walks of life have lived on the island, giving Jekyll Island a remarkable reputation. You will also have some free time to eat, shop, explore, and take in the beauty and atmosphere of this historic island. Afterward, we move on to Brunswick, GA, where a new experience awaits us. This afternoon we will be hopping on board the Lady Jane, an actual shrimping trawler, for a shrimping adventure. If that isn’t cool enough for you, then we will enjoy a traditional Low Country Boil for dinner this evening before settling into our hotel here in Brunswick for the next three nights.

Day 6:

Meals: Breakfast

The highlight of this day will be a guided tour of St. Simon Island. We will explore this fantastic piece of land for the next few hours. While here, you will have a chance to eat, shop, and discover the island. Be sure to check out the St. Simon Lighthouse before heading over for a walk on the beach. We will then be returning to our hotel for the night.

Day 7:

Meals: Breakfast

We have one more island adventure, and this one is across the state line in Florida. Here in Florida, we make our way over to Amelia Island. Treasured for her long stretches of quiet beaches, natural beauty, unique history, and charming seaport character, Amelia Island is a place you will not soon forget. While on Amelia Island, we will take another boat trip on the Amelia River Cruise. This excursion offers an extensive and rich history of Amelia and Cumberland Island, with views of wildlife along the way. We cruise by Fernandina’s shrimp boats, historic Old Town, and Fort Clinch to the wild horses of Cumberland Island. Anyone who still needs to buy souvenirs will have their chance this afternoon as again you will have free time to eat some of the local food and explore some local shops. Leaving the island behind, we return to our hotel in Brunswick.

Day 8:

Meals: Breakfast

Today we say goodbye to Georgia and her Islands as we make our way homeward. We will find ourselves at the Biblical History Center on our way through the Georgia countryside. The Biblical History Center is an archaeological museum exploring daily life in ancient times. This is an amazing opportunity to peer back across the ages to see what daily life was like in Biblical times. Leaving here, we head into Birmingham, AL, where our hotel for the night awaits.

Day 9:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Another exciting day awaits us as we continue our journey to its conclusion. Our stop today will be at Storytellers Hideaway Farm and Museum; this was where Johnny Cash went to escape public life. The Storytellers Hideaway Farm and Museum is a must-stop for anyone interested in knowing more about the man behind the country music icon. A boxed lunch is included. Tonight, we will be dining at the one and only Patti’s 1880s Settlement for a one-of-a-kind dinner experience. We will be overnighting in Paducah, KY.

Day 10:

Meals: Breakfast

We arrive back home all too soon. We’re sure you’ll have a great time and have made many close friends who helped you make some memories.
