Here at Making Memories Tours, we are always searching for new ways to make memories together. So, what is something we all love to do together?  That’s right! We all love to eat! Therefore, we are excited to present to you Making Memories the tastiest tour yet. As we travel to the South, we discover the true meaning of southern comfort food. Your taste buds are going to be swept away with each new flavor.  I only have one suggestion: be sure to start your diet after this delectable getaway.

Day 1:

Meals: Lunch, Dinner

As we load up on the bus today, we’ll start making our way towards Memphis.  That’s right tonight we’re going to be digging into some authentic Memphis BBQ.  What makes it even better is that we will be enjoying this BBQ while floating down the Mississippi River on a Riverboat cruise. How’s that for kicking things off with a bang!

Day 2:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Today, we continue South to Birmingham, where we visit a small-town café that is something of a local star.  In fact, you may have seen this place before. If you are familiar with the iconic southern movie Fried Green Tomatoes, then you have seen this particular café before. After our delicious meal at the Irondale Café, we continue south to the Capital of Alabama where we’ll spend a little time this afternoon touring the Alabama State Capitol building before heading to our hotel in Montgomery.

Day 3:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Today, our delicious adventure continues southward as we make our way to Mobile, Ala, a city often considered one of the best cities in the U.S. to live in.  Our journey continues as we take part in a guided tour of downtown Mobile. While this tour will tell us some of the histories of the city, we will be making multiple stops to taste what the city has to offer.  Leaving Mobile this afternoon, we find ourselves at Bellingrath Home and Gardens.  Here, we can take in some of the beauty of the South and walk off a few of the calories we just took in. Leaving here, we head to our next hotel in Biloxi, Miss. where we will be staying the next two nights.

Day 4:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Today, we are going to do more than just taste delicious food, we’re going to be learning about how such delicious food gets caught and the history behind shrimping on a Shrimp Cruise. Upon our return to dry land, guess what is awaiting us? Shrimp! We will have the chance to chow down on boiled shrimp as well as a plethora of other Southern-style seafood.  Following lunch, we will spend some time at the Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum where we can experience an array of exhibits on shrimping, oystering and other fishing. We finish our day off with a tour of Beauvoir Mansion where we will enjoy coffee and beignets on the Mansion’s front porch. You can’t get any more southern than that!

Day 5:

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

So, yesterday we got a real taste of the south. Well today, we’re going even further!  Our day starts off as we head toward New Orleans; however, before we get there, we really have to stop for a swamp tour.  Airboat Adventure is definitely something we can’t afford to miss. So, hop on board an airboat and keep an eye out for gators as we explore the swamps of southern Louisiana. As we leave the swamp behind us, we find ourselves in New Orleans at our hotel downtown. This afternoon you’ve got a little free time to explore The Big Easy. This evening, we have an experience in store for everyone that you will not soon forget. We will be enjoying a Jazz Dinner Cruise on a steamboat in New Orleans. Now that is definitely going to be a memory maker

Day 6:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Well, ladies and gentlemen, we have gone about as far south as we can go.  You know what that means. We now have to start heading back northward.  Before we get too far up the road, however, we’ll be making a stop at Oak Alley Plantation. Here at Oak Alley, we can take in the grandeur of this beautiful old plantation as well as enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. As we leave Oak Alley, we make our way north to our hotel in Vicksburg, Miss.

Day 7:

Meals: Breakfast

Well, all good things must come to an end, and this tasty journey is no exception, so we will be making our way home today with memories of friends made and meals enjoyed.
