Get ready to say “Hello” to the Pacific Northwest, a fresh and captivating corner of North America. Here nature gives us a glimpse of her incomprehensible range. Here, a fusion of vastly different landscapes comes together in one unlikely painting: endless stretches of windswept, sandy beaches; dense expanses of green forest; great crashing rivers; dramatic river valleys. This expedition will have us discovering beautiful mountains, exploring stunning islands, and immersing ourselves in some amazing cities! This is all part of what is going to make this an unforgettable adventure. Passport Required
Day 1:
The first day of our exciting time together take us all the way to Seattle, Washington, replacing a rather long drive with a rather short flight. Flying generally seems to leave everybody tuckered out. So upon arrival, we head over to our hotel for a much needed good night’s sleep.
Day 2:
Meals: Breakfast
This is where our adventure begins and today it is taking us towards Vancouver, Canada. However, before we cross our northern border we have a very exciting visit to make. We will stop at the Future of Flight Aviation Center at the Boeing factory for an absolutely uplifting tour. The center offers the only publicly available opportunity to tour a commercial jet assembly plant in North America. All this takes place in the world’s largest building (by volume). After we learn as much as we can from this wonderful experience, our journey takes us across the border and on into Vancouver, British Columbia Canada. Our hotel will be here for the next two nights.
Day 3:
Meals: Breakfast
As we wake up this morning you may begin to realize that we’re not in Kansas anymore. After breakfast this morning we will meet with our local expert on this city, who will spend the next few hours showing us the sights and sharing some of their personal knowledge of beautiful Vancouver. When our tour is over, you now have some choices to make, because now you’ve got the rest of the day free. So get out there and do some exploration, go shopping, or go see some of the city’s many attractions like, Capilano Suspension Bridge, the Vancouver Aquarium, or maybe just try some of the local cuisine and relax. It’s all up to you.
Day 4:
Meals: Breakfast
On this day we will be boarding our ferry, which will transport us to the beautiful capital city of British Columbia, Victoria. The area is home to some of the country’s most exhilarating scenery. There’s an ocean or mountain vista around every corner and the city’s flower gardens are famous the world over. While in this amazing and historical city our first experience will be at the world famous Butchart Gardens. National Geographic cites The Butchart Gardens as one of the most beautiful gardens in the world! After we leave here we will arrive at the Greater Victoria Visitors Center where we can go inside and get our downtown map of places to see, things to do and restaurants within walking distance for some free time in this beautiful city. We depart this lovely island this evening and ferry our way back stateside to our overnight in Port Angeles, Washington.
Day 5:
Meals: Breakfast
Today we make our way to Seattle for lunch before we meet our step-on guide for an exciting city tour. We will spend the next few hours seeing all the sights and learning some of the history of Seattle. After our tour we make our way over to the famous Space Needle. This amazing architectural wonder is over 600 feet tall and was built in only 400 days. From the observation deck at 520 feet, nothing blocks you from a 360 degree panorama of the Emerald City. Head up and see what all the oohhhs and ahhhhhs are about. Stare all you want, Seattle won’t mind.
Day 6:
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch
After your coffee in Seattle we will make our way to an absolutely stunning place, Mount Rainier National Park. Ascending to 14,410 feet above sea level, this stunning mountain stands as an icon in the Washington landscape. An active volcano, Mount Rainier is the most glaciated peak in the contiguous U.S.A., spawning six major rivers. Whether you’re interested in: wildflower meadows, a museum that tells the story of the early days of the park, breathtaking views, or you want to experience the beauty and complexity of an old-growth forest, Mount Rainier has it all and is a definite memory maker! We head out this afternoon and make our overnight in Morton, Washington.
Day 7:
Meals: Breakfast
We have another exciting day in store for you. Our day starts with us making our way south to Portland, Oregon. Once here we will pick up our professional expert on the city for a guided tour of all the sights and attractions this amazing and historic city has to offer. When we say goodbye to our guide we will make our way to the International Rose Test Garden. While this may seem like an odd name, don’t let that discourage you. This garden is home to more than 10,000 roses. The primary purpose of this garden is to serve as a testing ground for new rose varieties. So you are sure to see something unique and new at this spectacular monument to gardening. Our overnight for two nights will be in Gladstone, Oregon.
Day 8:
Meals: Breakfast
We have another day of adventure waiting for you on this exciting day. Before leaving our hotel we’re going to meet our guide for this day of exploring. We will see Mount Hood and the Columbia River Gorge along with Multnomah Falls. As the tallest mountain in Oregon, Mount Hood offers some breathtaking views: Columbia River Gorge, the largest national scenic area in the United States: a land of natural contrasts between rain forest and desert, sea-level passage and alpine meadows. And don’t forget Multnomah Falls, a 611-foot-tall roaring, awe-inspiring cascade of icy water, lets you experience the power and beauty of nature up close and with ease. With so much to see and take in, it really is a good thing we’re bringing a professional guide to take us to the very best sights. We’ll spend all day here before we start back for our hotel.
Day 9:
Meals: Breakfast
We go home today and say goodbye to the northwest as well all our new friends. You’ll be going home with lots of stories to tell your family. We’re sure you had an unforgettable time on this amazing adventure, and you’ve made a mountain of memories with us. We hope you’ll come back and rediscover new heights with Making Memories again.
