Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, so let’s all get in the Christmas spirit together on this very Merry Christmas getaway. From Graceland (all decked out in the holiday colors and decorations) to a Cathedral, to a Gingerbread Village, this holiday vacation is going to take you to see all things Christmas. Between the holiday themed dinner theater and the Christmas Tree Festival you’ll have no choice but to get in the Christmas spirit. So “yawl come” celebrate this Christmas with us as we all make some holiday memories together.

Day 1:

Christmas cheer is in the air as we start out on the first day of our Holiday getaway. Today we hit the road on our way down south, so sit back and relax as we enjoy our time getting to know our fellow merrymakers. We head south today to our overnight in West Memphis, Arkansas.

Day 2:

Meals: Breakfast
Yesterday the excitement built all day. Today that excitement reaches a crescendo as we arrive at the beautiful Graceland, the stunning home of Elvis Presley. As the front door to Elvis Presley’s mansion opens, you are taken on an unforgettable journey into the private world of an American legend. During the holiday season, the tour of Graceland is extra special with the interior and exterior of the mansion decorated for the holidays. See traditional lights and decorations including hundreds of blue lights along the driveway. After departing this amazing historical mansion you have a little free time to do some shopping here in Memphis, before we continue on south to our overnight in Birmingham, Alabama.

Day 3:

Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
Before this day is over you will live like a Multi-Millionaire of the past, but first we’ll make a stop in Macon, Georgia, for their Festival of Trees display-just one more way to kickstart your Christmas spirit. Today we drive on to the immaculate Jekyll Island Club Resort. Founded in 1886, the Club was once the private winter retreat of America’s wealthiest families with such members as Morgan, Rockefeller, Pulitzer and Vanderbilt. This is where the Vanderbilts, the Rockefellers and others of the like, passed their days in a state of lavish splendor on their Southern playground. We will be staying on these stunning grounds tonight and tomorrow night, Jekyll Island, Georgia.

Day 4:

Meals: Breakfast / Dinner
We start this exciting day with a tram tour including a walk into some of the beautiful old cottages filled with rich tales and elegant furnishings. Our day take us to St. Simons Island. On this Island we will first go visit a place called Driftwood Beach. We will then continue on for a guided tour, where you will be enthralled by the sights, lore, and history of St. Simons Island. Next we’ve got something truly unique for you, an excursion on a real shrimp boat where you will watch and learn about Shrimping. This evening we have a holiday themed performance in store for you, put on by the Brunswick Actors Theater.

Day 5:

Meals: Breakfast / Dinner
We leave Jekyll Island today and make our way to Savannah, Georgia, for a historic trolley tour. Today we are guided through more than 270 years of American history. As we journey through the Historic District, we will ride along cobblestone paved streets beneath moss-draped oaks and experience the “Old South” with her stately mansions, beautiful squares, romantic riverfront and abundance of artifacts. In addition to the informative and entertaining narration by our guide, we will be able to explore the Historic District on our own by utilizing 15 trolley stops throughout the day. Each stop is conveniently located near points of interest (like the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, City Market, and River Street), unique shops & boutiques and many fabulous restaurants. After this experience we will make for the Coastal Georgia Botanical Garden for some spectacular holiday light displays. We will be staying here in Savannah, Georgia for the next two nights.

Day 6:

Meals: Breakfast / Dinner
More excitement and Christmas cheer await us today as we start the day off with a tour of Christmas traditions at the Owens-Thomas House. Why do we hang stockings on chimneys and kiss under mistletoe? Take a walk through history and explore celebrations of the past and their influence on the holiday we relish today. The Owens-Thomas House will be decked out to help you experience the simplicity of a Regency Christmas. There is plenty more in store for us today as we visit the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and Gingerbread Village. But the excitement doesn’t stop yet. It’s Showtime! Our final night is sure to be a memorable one as we experience one of the city’s top theatre presentations “A Christmas Tradition” at the Savannah Historic Theatre.

Day 7:

Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
We start back northward today but not before we make a stop at the Biblical History Center for a tour and a biblical meal. The Biblical Meal is a four-course meal consisting of 15 different food items, including soup, salad, fruit, main course, dessert and all beverages (grape juice, water, or wine). Your guide will explain ancient meal practices including Passover and the Last Supper. This experience offers an example of first century culture. We will make our way westward where we will enjoy our final dinner with some holiday entertainment. Our overnight will be in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Day 8:

Meals: Breakfast
Our festive adventure is at an end today. As we arrive home, we are sure this trip has helped to put you in the holiday mood. Sometimes in the hustle and bustle of life it’s easy to lose sight of the real reason for the season. Merry Christmas from Making Memories! We hope we’ve encouraged your Christmas spirit.
