American History from the landing of the Pilgrims at Plymouth to the Cape’s oldest town of Sandwich and much more are all waiting for us. This escapade is going to be unforgettable just don’t forget to bring your camera along for the ride.
Day 1:
It’s our first day together on this great venture, so be sure to take some time to meet and get to know some of your fellow explorers. They could be like part of your family by the journey’s end. Our tour will take us northward for our overnight in Effingham, Illinois.
Day 2:
Meals: Breakfast
We will lose one hour at the Indiana State Line on our way to Dayton, Ohio. We will arrive in time to tour the USAF Museum at Wright-Patterson, AFB. Here they have lots and lots of planes from the Wright Brothers up to the Stealth Bomber. After our tour we will check into our hotel here in Dayton, Ohio.
Day 3:
Meals: Breakfast
The colors should start making a showing today as we continue through Ohio, Pennsylvania and driving alongside Lake Erie, we enter New York State. We arrive at Niagara Falls, New York where our hotel is literally across the street from the falls. Tonight you have free time to walk down to the falls and see the amazing light show at dusk, where giant spot lights change the color of the waterfalls right before your eyes. Or if you are adventurous, bring your passport. Just a short 10 to 15 minute walk and you could be in Canada. So enjoy your evening!
Day 4:
Meals: Breakfast
Awake to the thunder of the falls for you won’t want to miss a minute of this lovely gift of nature. You are right in the midst of most everything and you can walk to all the venues on your free time. We have included a ride on the “Maid of the Mist”, a cruise that takes you to the base of the falls. You can’t imagine the force of the water as it tumbles over the falls into the river below, and consequently, forms a mist that feels like rain. But it’s OK – they furnish raincoats so that you can experience this awesome adventure. We depart this afternoon and continue onwards to Utica, New York.
Day 5:
Meals: Breakfast
We cross into Vermont and have lunch on our own, and then free time to explore Woodstock, Vermont. The town’s central square, called the green, is bordered by restored late Georgian, Federal Style and Greek Revival Houses. An incorporated village called the Woodstock Village is in the town of Woodstock and has a total area of 1.0 square mile. This Historic District was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. We depart for a break at Quechee Gorge, the “Little Grand Canyon of Vermont.” The bridge spans the gorge 162 feet above the Ottauquechee River! Our night’s lodging will be in White River Junction, New Hampshire.
