Tour Description
Your package includes deluxe transportation, accommodations, all listed tour fees, and 8 meals.
Majestic mountain vistas, draped in all the colors and grandeur of autumn, rising up through the foggy valleys is just one of the wonders you will behold on this incredible tour. On this five-day tour, we see some of the most beautiful landscapes out there during the most beautiful time of the year. We will make our way across the picturesque Talimena Highway, learn about gangster hideouts, stay on top of the tallest mountain in Arkansas, enjoy a jazz concert and much, much more!
Day 1:
The first day of this breathtaking tour will be spent getting to know your fellow travelers. We will stop this afternoon to check out Fort Gibson, the first military fort in Indian Territory, and we overnight in McAlester, Oklahoma.
Day 2:
Meals: Breakfast / Dinner
Today we will be driving the Talimena Highway renowned for its beauty, especially during the autumn; there will be stops for pictures. (You will not want to forget your camera!) We will then enjoy a little free time in Hot Springs before we head over to the The Gangster Museum of America where we learn about the nation’s most notorious mobsters…who liked to hang out (and hide out) in Hot Springs. Next we will head up to Mt. Magazine Lodge which offers breathtaking views of Petit Jean River Valley and Blue Mountain Lake. You will enjoy your evening meal and two nights stay at this impressive lodge on top of the mountain.
Day 3:
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
When you wake up today, you have a choice to make: you can either hop on the bus for a short day of exploring the local wonders * * OR * * spend the day relaxing at the lodge. If you decide to go explore with us, we will take a guided tour of the beautiful Subiaco Abbey. Afterwards, we head over to a local winery where we will learn about their vineyards and the wine making process. Lunch is included. Then we will head back to the lodge for some free time. Dinner tonight will include our own personal jazz concert performed by some of the young men from Subiaco Abbey. (This has been a highlight of past trips to this area.)
Day 4:
Meals: Breakfast / Dinner
We depart Mt. Magazine for a short drive down to Little Rock. To ensure we see all this great city has to offer, we will pick up our step-on guide who will spend a few hours sharing personal knowledge of Little Rock. We will arrive at our Little Rock hotel early giving everybody a chance to get ready for the evening’s entertainment. We will depart our hotel and head over for dinner and a show at the famous Murry’s Dinner Playhouse.
Day 5:
Meals: Breakfast
On this final day of our journey, we will be taking a scenic route giving you one last chance to enjoy the beauty of the Ozark Mountains. As we head for home, you have the day to look back on all the memories you’ve made with us. Who knew so much beauty is right here in our own backyard?
