Day 2:
Lodging: Holiday Inn Express
Meals: Breakfast and Dinner
We start off by visiting a city under one roof with 1.5 million – yes, 1.5 million – twinkling lights! Over 15,000 ornaments and larger than life displays. Here, at the Gaylord Texas Resort, you’ll quickly discover there is no cooler place featuring two million pounds of hand formed ice sculptures. ICE! is a treat all unto itself. The afternoon involves our very own guide for a city tour. Grapevine was founded in 1843 when folks stopped here and set up house among all the wild mustang grapes and abundance of grapevines. Making Memories is treating you to dinner at the place to eat!!! Willhoites the historic downtown restaurant, serving down-home eats with live entertainment. The evening Glockenspiel for the Chimes is a very special event in Grapevine. The would-be train robbers have quite a showdown come 9:00 p.m. We’ll have you there to experience it!
Day 3:
Lodging: Holiday Inn Express
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
We begin at a pure oasis of serenity where photo opportunities will be plenty. The Grapevine Botanical Gardens invite us to enjoy trails, streams, ponds, sitting areas, Koi ponds and all the botanical wonders which are maintained for your enjoyment. We then head over to Nash Farms, a 5.2-acre farm purchased by Thomas Jefferson Nash in 1859. This celebration of Christmas is done in Victorian Christmas style while giving due tribute to the migration of farmers who settled here prior to the Civil War. Oh, and what fun as the burning of the Yule log commences! Weinbergers Deli treats us to the best sandwiches around. Our evening welcomes all the sounds of the holiday season dancing in the air. Christmas carols being sung by a choir, sleigh bells ringing on the horses as they pass by and fighting in the town square. What!? Oh no, there is dismay at the annual Christmas pageant rehearsal. Making Memories has your ticket to the Christmas Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre, the best in the wild, wild, west!
Day 4:
Lodging: Holiday Inn Express
Meals: Breakfast
One more enjoyable morning the way you want! After last evening’s fun theatre event, we’re sure you’ll appreciate the extra time to prepare for today. Another day is needed in Grapevine to fully explore the marvelous best-kept places. Today is the day we’ll uncover some of these! This morning we arrive at Vetro Glassblowing Studio and Gallery where we are mesmerized by demonstrations of the artisan glassblowing art form. Imagine taking hot molten glass, forming and shaping it into original art glass designs worthy to be displayed in the on-site gallery. These guys do it and do it well. After a nice lunch we head over to the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District for a tour of the cattle industry in Texas. Fort Worth was a major stop for supplies for the cattle drivers. Between the years of 1866-1890, there were over 4 million head of cattle which passed through Cowtown. The headline event of the evening is our visit to the Palace Theatre. Renovated to retain the 1940s art deco style in the theatre, this Grapevine Opry Christmas Show features the best local talent in west Texas. Opry alumni include LeAnn Rimes, Miranda Lambert and Keith Anderson just to name a few. This high-energy, spontaneous format will bring the holiday spirit like none other.
