Sitting in your deck chair with a warm cup of coffee, you watch the leaves seemingly explode in front of you as you pass by. What could be more beautiful than cruising in the autumn on the Norwegian Cruise Line? Maybe taking a train into the countryside of the Charlevoix region, maybe overnighting on an island in the middle of the St. Lawrence River, or maybe being on the edge of the Atlantic chasing the snow white belugas whales, just to name a few. Ships, Planes & Trains …three ways to experience the beauty of Canada and New England. This will be a vacation of a lifetime. Passport Required

Day 4:

Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
Wake up this morning in Portland, Maine. We dock at 7:00 a.m. This coastal town offers many things from which to choose: stay close on the vibrant waterfront, go shopping, or within minutes, enjoy the view from a historic lighthouse or taste a juicy, local lobster. The choice is yours to make before we cast off in the afternoon at 3:00 p.m. to our next port.

Day 5:

Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
We won’t be arriving at the next beautifully preserved city Halifax, Nova Scotia until 10:00 a.m., so take your time getting ready for the day. Admire the rugged coastline that surrounds Halifax, the capital of Nova Scotia. Here you can step through history and climb to The Citadel to see the Old Town Clock or explore. Take advantage of the wonderful city sights while we are here. We will be departing at 7:00 p.m.

Day 6:

Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
No alarm needed today – this is a full day at sea, so relax and sleep late. Grab your favorite book and read in a lounge chair. The Norwegian Dawn has a choice of 17 dining options, 12 lounges, a fitness center and spa, casino, pools and more, all for you to enjoy at your leisure today. Go ahead, nobody’s watching! Eat all you want, take a nap, or walk around the ship. Just enjoy!

Day 7:

Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
Morning comes with the promise of another great day. We will be docking around 8:00 a.m. at Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island today. Opulent clapboard villas lead the way toward Charlottetown’s beautiful Victoria Park. Color is everywhere – from the Victorian architecture to the red sandstone cliffs. Sample homemade island jams, visit the Anne of Green Gables homestead and stroll the boardwalk. These are just a few ideas on how to spend your day. Be sure and be back before we sail at 5:00 p.m.

Day 8:

Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
Up the coast we go to our next stop in eastern Quebec, Canada. The Gaspe Peninsula is renowned as one of the world’s most beautiful destinations. Arriving around 9:00 a.m., this is where outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the diverse landscape from stunning national parks, mountains and meadows to rugged cliffs lining the Atlantic coast teeming with wildlife habitats. The captain will be casting off at 4:00 p.m. so enjoy your time on Gaspe.

Day 9:

Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
Sleeping in today will work just fine since we will arrive around 11:00 a.m. The city of Saguenay is comprised of three boroughs: La Baie, Chicoutimi and Jonquiere. Chicoutimi and Jonquiere are situated on the shores of the Saguenay river and La Baie is found on the whimsically named, the Baie des Ha Ha! This French-speaking region is north of Quebec City and is considered a small oasis in the midst of the nearly uninhabited Canadian wilderness. A perfect place to try out your French lessons. We set sail at 7:00 p.m.

Day 10:

Meals: Breakfast / Lunch
Land ho…….We disembark at Quebec City around mid-morning. Although we hate to leave our ship, we have so much to do in this lovely city. The land is calling us to “come see”. We will start our journey with learning to become an artist. Shades of copper are in your future. When we are done, you will have created your own “masterpiece of art”. After lunch at the Montmorency Falls, we travel back to Quebec City for free time to explore one of only two walled cities left in North America. Our overnight will be in Quebec City.

Day 11:

Meals: Breakfast / Dinner
“Bonjour!” (good morning in French) We will be hopping on our next form of transportation, a train. This morning our journey includes the countryside of the Charlevoix region, which makes its way along the St. Lawrence River. This is new territory to see, beyond where we sailed before. The train will take you to unique, spectacular and otherwise inaccessible sites. The first stop is at Bais- Saint- Paul, you can stroll down the street with shops and art galleries. Lunch will be in this quaint little village. Next, we stop by a local cheese producer with a tour to learn how they make their award winning “Charlevoix Cheeses”. They will also share with us how their project saved a cow species from extinction. All aboard the train to catch the ferry that will take us to the Isle-aux-Coudres, Charlevoix. This is a tranquil island on the St. Lawrence River where the scenery just begs to be admired and our home for the night.

Day 12:

Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
After you start your day watching the sun rise in this peaceful place; we will explore the island and make a stop at a site that has a fully functional watermill and windmill…the only one of its kind in Canada. They use millstones to grind wheat into flour. Now back to the ferry as we cross to the mainland to travel the River Road, one of the loveliest scenic roads in North America. Our next adventure is our Whale Watching Cruise, one of the world’s most unique whale watching observation sites; where blue, fin, minke and humpback whales frolic with belugas. What a day! You thought things could not get any better, but they just did. We will be staying overnight at the luxurious Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu. Nestled majestically between the sea and the mountains, this vision of historical splendor blends the quiet charm of the countryside with the sophistication of a world class resort.

Day 13:

Meals: Breakfast
Today we say “au revoir” to Canada as we return home from this colorful epic adventure!
