What could be more beautiful than cruising in the autumn on the Norwegian Cruise Line? Maybe taking a train into the countryside of the Charlevoix region, maybe overnighting on an island in the middle of the St. Lawrence River, or maybe being on the edge of the Atlantic chasing the snow white belugas whales, just to name a few. Ships, Planes & Trains …three ways to experience the beauty of Canada and New England. This will be a vacation of a lifetime. Passport Required

Sleeping in today will work just fine since we will arrive around 11:00 a.m. The city of Saguenay is comprised of three boroughs: La Baie, Chicoutimi and Jonquiere. Chicoutimi and Jonquiere are situated on the shores of the Saguenay river and La Baie is found on the whimsically named, the Baie des Ha Ha! This French-speaking region is north of Quebec City and is considered a small oasis in the midst of the nearly uninhabited Canadian wilderness. A perfect place to try out your French lessons. We set sail at 7:00 p.m.
Day 10:
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch
Land ho…….We disembark at Quebec City around mid-morning. Although we hate to leave our ship, we have so much to do in this lovely city. The land is calling us to “come see”. We will start our journey with learning to become an artist. Shades of copper are in your future. When we are done, you will have created your own “masterpiece of art”. After lunch at the Montmorency Falls, we travel back to Quebec City for free time to explore one of only two walled cities left in North America. Our overnight will be in Quebec City.
Day 11:
Meals: Breakfast / Dinner
“Bonjour!” (good morning in French) We will be hopping on our next form of transportation, a train. This morning our journey includes the countryside of the Charlevoix region, which makes its way along the St. Lawrence River. This is new territory to see, beyond where we sailed before. The train will take you to unique, spectacular and otherwise inaccessible sites. The first stop is at Bais- Saint- Paul, you can stroll down the street with shops and art galleries. Lunch will be in this quaint little village. Next, we stop by a local cheese producer with a tour to learn how they make their award winning “Charlevoix Cheeses”. They will also share with us how their project saved a cow species from extinction. All aboard the train to catch the ferry that will take us to the Isle-aux-Coudres, Charlevoix. This is a tranquil island on the St. Lawrence River where the scenery just begs to be admired and our home for the night.
Day 12:
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
After you start your day watching the sun rise in this peaceful place; we will explore the island and make a stop at a site that has a fully functional watermill and windmill…the only one of its kind in Canada. They use millstones to grind wheat into flour. Now back to the ferry as we cross to the mainland to travel the River Road, one of the loveliest scenic roads in North America. Our next adventure is our Whale Watching Cruise, one of the world’s most unique whale watching observation sites; where blue, fin, minke and humpback whales frolic with belugas. What a day! You thought things could not get any better, but they just did. We will be staying overnight at the luxurious Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu. Nestled majestically between the sea and the mountains, this vision of historical splendor blends the quiet charm of the countryside with the sophistication of a world class resort.
Day 13:
Meals: Breakfast
Today we say “au revoir” to Canada as we return home from this colorful epic adventure!
