Well folks, it’s that time of the year again.  That’s right…it’s the most magical time of the year and what better way to celebrate the holidays than by coming with us to make Christmas memories together. The great cities of Louisville, Ashville and Nashville certainly know how to get into the spirit of the season and we’ll be visiting all three.  This trip is a winter wonderland of Christmas lights, stunningly decorated Victorian era houses, and, of course, loads of unbelievable shows.  Since we’re going to be visiting Nashville during the holidays it is only proper that we’ll be staying at the Gaylord Opryland Resort, and how could we visit Ashville without a tour of the Biltmore Mansion decorated with Yule season charm.  By the time you add in all the amazing Christmas shows we’ll be seeing, it becomes quite obvious that this is going to be an unforgettable journey.

Day One:

Who’s ready for the holidays?  If you weren’t before, you certainly will be by the end of this trip.  Hop on the coach and let us take you away from the stress and hassle of all your Christmas planning.  We’ll take care of everything, all you have to do is relax enjoy the journey.  Our first day ends with us in Mount Vernon, IL for the night.

Day Two:

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Sometimes Making Memories likes to add a little suspense for everybody, so we’re going to go ahead and keep our first stop in Louisville, KY, a SECRET.  That’s right; you won’t know where we’ll be heading upon arriving in Louisville.  After our mystery stop, we head over to the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum.  Surrounded by a beautiful courtyard neighborhood and at the center of the largest collection of Victorian Homes in the U.S. is “Conrad’s Castle.” Known for its intricate woodwork, archways, and elaborate stone designs, the Conrad-Caldwell House is one of the most stunning homes in Old Louisville and it’s all decked out for the holidays.  Now just in case all this isn’t enough excitement for you, tonight we’ll be attending a Christmas show at Derby’s Dinner Playhouse.  We’ll be staying the night here in Louisville.

Day Three:

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Say goodbye this morning to Louisville as our bus takes us on southwards towards the next “ville” on our incredible journey.  This afternoon brings us into Ashville, NC, where we’ll be spending the next two nights.  After a little time to get settled in, we will head over to our evening’s entertainment at Crest Mountain Theater for another Christmas-themed dinner show.

Day Four:

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Ashville awaits so we’ll jump on the bus and start another fun-filled day as we head over to check out the National Gingerbread House Competition.  The competition includes a couple of hundred hand-built edible creations of all sizes, shapes, complexities, and themes. The winners of the competition are featured on Good Morning America.  After checking out these artist delicacies we have an included lunch here at the Omni Grove Resort.  Next up:  the Smith-McDowell House and museum dressed in authentic Victorian décor from the museum’s permanent collection.  The historic Smith-McDowell House was home to many influential citizens in Asheville’s history and is lovely way to celebrate the Christmas traditions of the past.   After leaving the Smith-McDowell House, we’ll shortly arrive at Antler Hill Village for a tour of their award-winning winery.  I am sure everyone is bound to have all kinds of gifts they need to pick out for friends and family during the holidays.  So here you go, enjoy some free time to wander, explore, and eat before loading up on the bus and making our way to the highlight of our time here in Ashville:  The Biltmore Estate.  The Biltmore mansion, measuring 175,000 square feet, is the largest house in the U.S. and it is magical when adorned for the holidays. The Christmas at Biltmore extravagant celebration includes 70 elaborate, hand-decorated Christmas trees (including the favorite 35-foot live Fraser fir in the Banquet Hall), 1,000+ poinsettias, miles of garland and lights, live music and expert holiday demonstrations.  And if all this isn’t magical enough, we’ll be taking our tour through the mansion by candlelight.  This will definitely be one memorable day.

Day Five:

Meals: Breakfast

Just because our bus is now taking us west towards home, by no means does this indicate that the journey is slowing down because we’ve still got all kinds of fun planned for everybody.  This morning we’ll depart Ashville, heading west at least until we reach Newfound Gap, TN, where we will have a perfect picture opportunity.  Once we’ve got some amazing pictures of the pristine Smokey Mountains, our journey continues into Gatlinburg where everybody can indulge in lunch and some free time.  We’ll be overnighting in Pigeon Forge, TN, but before we call it a day, we’ll be enjoying ourselves at the Music Mansion taking in a spectacular Christmas production.

Day Six:

Meals: Breakfast

This morning will have us traveling to Nashville, TN, where our time in Music City starts out with a trip to Belle Meade Plantation to make some more Christmas memories.  Afterwards we arrive at the Gaylord Opryland Resort, where holiday spirit abounds.  Beautiful Christmas scenes, giant Christmas ornaments, animated carolers, poinsettias and lights decorate this luxurious resort inside and out.  This evening is yours to spend however you like there is always something to see here at the Gaylord so be sure to go check out ICE (a display of over two million pounds of ice turned into a winter wonderland of ice sculptures).

Day Seven:

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

During the Christmas season, Nashville is one of the most beautifully decorated cities you will ever see and today we’re going to be seeing a lot of the Music City.  Our morning starts out with a quick drive over to Studio B, Historic RCA Studio B was once the recording home of popular music titans such as Elvis Presley, Chet Atkins, Eddy Arnold, and the Everly Brothers and when you come with us you’ll have a chance to follow in their footsteps as will be doing a little recording of our own.  Leaving here our journey brings us to the Country Music Hall of Fame for a little time learning about some of the legendary names in country music.  Next, we board our bus where a step-on-guide will take us on an insightful tour of Nashville telling us all about the history of Music City.   But the fun isn’t over yet because tonight we have one more holiday show in store for everybody at the Nashville Nightlife Theater.

Day Eight:

Meals: Breakfast

We must now depart Nashville as our journey takes us homeward.  Wow, what an incredible holiday adventure this has been, just spectacular!  On our ride home go ahead and trade names and numbers with your new-found friends, or dream of twinkly lights, Christmas trees, candlelit mansions and Christmas cheer while napping.  We hope you had as much fun on this trip as we did, and of course “Merry Christmas to you and your family.
