That’s right we will be stepping on board Noah’s Ark. At 510 feet long, 51 feet high, and 85 feet wide, Noah’s Ark is the largest timber frame structure in the world, built from standing dead timber, in part by skilled Amish craftsmen. The Ark is an architectural and engineering wonder containing three decks of world-class exhibits. We will also travel to an 1800’s Shaker Village, then onto The Creation Museum that will take you through the biblical history of Earth’s earliest days. So, get ready for a flood of excitement and memories as we take a journey through history.
Our first day together on this journey through history is a travel day so sit back, relax and get to know your fellow pilgrims. The end of our first day takes us to our overnight in Paducah, KY.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
We depart from our hotel this morning to continue making our way toward the past, but before we go back in time too far, we are taking a jaunt to a place in more recent history. The Shakers were America’s largest and best-known 19th century communal society. The Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill is a landmark of discovery in the spirit of the Kentucky Shakers. With 34 original Shaker structures, this site is home to the country’s largest private collection of original 19th century buildings. You’ll get a chance to learn all about the history of Shakers while walking past architectural marvels, breathtaking landscapes, fine design and craftsmanship. Oh, and by the way, there will also be a riverboat ride. We’ll be overnighting tonight in Lexington, KY.
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
This is the day we reach the Creation Museum. You are free to tour the museum on your own. The center piece of the museum is the Bible Timeline, which is a walk through history. Walk through the Garden of Eden where dinosaurs roam with other animals. Visit the Dinosaur Den and be sure to watch the theater presentations throughout the museum. The Six Day Theater and the Last Adam Theater are part of the walk-through Bible timeline. The Dragon Legends Theater is right beside the Dinosaur Den. These are just some of the enlightening presentations available! The theaters afford “rest breaks” throughout the museum and there are also food venues. After we’ve spent our time here, the next thing on our agenda is a guided tour of the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption. Listed among “the most beautiful churches in the world,” the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption is a beautifully ornate example of Gothic Revival architecture. There are 82 hand poured stained glass windows which were crafted in Germany. After this magnificent tour, we will check into our hotel before boarding for another kind of riverboat cruise. We will enjoy the BB Riverboat’s Captain’s Dinner Cruise as we cruise the Ohio River. Our lodging tonight will be in Covington, Kentucky.
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Today we will be going back to the Bible again as we discover Noah’s Ark! Have you ever wondered how big the Ark really was or how it was built? Now you can see it from the inside out—the size and scale of the original as recorded in the Bible! What an experience! After exploring the Ark together, we disembark and start making our way homeward, but the fun isn’t over yet! Tonight, we’ve got quite a surprise for you at our overnight in Indianapolis IN.
Today takes us homeward. Enjoy our last day together on this trip through time. Take the day to relive the experience with all your new found friends and share with each other all the memories you’ve made. We would like to thank you all for traveling with us and hope you will come back again to make more memories with us.
