Let freedom ring on this exciting adventure to one of America’s oldest cities.  If there is a better way to celebrate our nation’s liberty than at the home of the Statue of Liberty, well I don’t know it. You won’t want to miss out on this incredible opportunity to take in the Fourth of July celebration in the Big Apple.  The roar of fireworks bursting over the Hudson River, throwing flashes of color across the city and the thunder of the explosions seem to take you back in time to the roaring of canons greeting our struggling nation.  These sights and sounds will grasp you and the thousands of other proud Americans all around you.  Let freedom ring!!!

Day One:

Like our founding fathers of days gone by, we will be venturing out from our homes to seek something new and exciting as we step aboard our faithful steed.  We will be overnighting in Plainfield, IN.

Day Two:

Meals: Breakfast

Our journey today takes us across Indiana and Ohio as our destination gets ever closer.  Make sure to charge your cameras tonight because tomorrow you’ll be in the Big Apple.  Our overnight tonight will be in Mechanicsburg PA.

Day Three:

Meals: Breakfast

Today we have arrived in New York City!!!  What some call “The Capital of the World” others refer to as “The Big Apple”.  We will start our time here with our step-on-guide for a 4-hour tour of America’s most iconic city.  Afterwards our hotel awaits us here in the city where we’ll be staying for the next four nights.  Your possibilities are endless.

Day Four:

Meals: Breakfast

We begin our day the way so many immigrants ended their journey when they cast their eyes on the iconic Lady Liberty.   The majestic Statue of Liberty, given to America by the French in the late 1800’s, is a national symbol of liberty.  Many thousands of travelers make the journey every year to see her.  Just beyond the statue we will follow the footsteps of those immigrants onto Ellis Island.  It was the nation's busiest immigrant inspection station for over sixty years, the gateway for over 12 million immigrants into the USA.  After this wonderful experience, our day now takes a more somber tone as we head over to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.  As sad as this stop is, it’s important that we never forget the events of that terrible day.   But America will not be kept down and the next stop on our itinerary is a visit to the Freedom TowerThe tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, soaring to 1,776 feet, the Freedom Tower was completed in 2013, in remembrance of 9/11.  It stands as a testament to American resolve.  After returning at our hotel, the night is yours to explore.

Day Five:

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Wake up sleepyhead, today is America’s birthday!  Get ready for another awesome day in the city that never sleeps.  The day will be yours to enjoy with a pre-paid, full-day excursion  with the NYC Sightseeing Bus Tours, you know the one with the red double-decker buses.  You have the option to start the day by attending the NYC July 4th Parade or you can choose to use your bus pass.  This is a hop-on, hop-off tour where you can get off at an attraction or restaurant you want to see, stay as long as you wish, go back to the place you got off and catch the next bus to continue your tour.  (You will receive information ahead of time to help you plan your day’s adventure.) You do need to return to the hotel by 4:00 PM. Today is Independence Day and that means we’ve got some fireworks to see.  In honor of our nation, we at Making Memories have something really special in store for everyone.  How does viewing the fireworks from onboard a luxury dinner cruise sound? This incredible experience will provide you front row seats to the 4th of July fireworks display alongside the city skyline.  The blasting of the fireworks overhead and brilliant colors flashing all around will undoubtedly be a memory never to be forgotten.

Day Six:

Meals: Breakfast

Since yesterday was Independence Day, today you will have freedom to enjoy the city.  That means you have the whole day to experience NYC and you have a ticket to ride on the Red Double-Decker Bus again   Go taste some of food this great old city has to offer or maybe do some shopping (there will no shortage of places to buy all kinds of cool stuff or head over to Broadway to catch a world-famous show or go see some of the landmarks we weren’t able to get to do together.  A person could spend years in this amazing city and still not experience all it has to offer.

Day Seven:

Meals: Breakfast

As we wave goodbye to the impressive New York skyline, we will be making our way westward.  But before our overnight in New Stanton, PA, we will make a visit at the Flight 93 Memorial. This incredibly beautiful and stirring memorial pays tribute to the 40 souls who lost their lives on 9/11.  Learn the heroic story behind these brave Americans, men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice and should never be forgotten.

Day Eight:

Meals: Breakfast

As we cross the heart of America today, take this opportunity to look back and remember… all you’ve seen, learned, and experienced since you left home: the beautiful, the grand, and the solemn.  For our overnight tonight, we’ll be staying at Terra Haute, IN.

Day Nine:

Meals: Breakfast

We’ll be arriving home today.  So the next time you hear Lee Greenwood sing the famous word, “I’m proud to be an American” we hope you look back, smile and say God Bless the USA!
